Understanding another culture is a complex task for anyone. Culture includes all parts of life such as beliefs, art, music, morals, value system and their rules, religion and philosophy, interactions with family, behavioral pattern, practices of reading children, leisure and recreational activities, ceremonies and rituals, nutrition, food preferences, and practices of health (Blais, Hayes, 2016). In America the those of Hispanics origin are a fast growing population especially in California and in particular Ventura County, where the US Census Bureau reports that 42.0% of the population in 2014 are Hispanic. (bureau) US Census Bureau confirms that more than half of the growth in the total population of the United States between 2000 and 2010 was due to the increase in the Hispanic population (Bureau, 2011). Health care professionals, that is, nurses, who provide culturally competent care to the Hispanic vulnerable population, achieve better outcomes than those who do not practic e culturally competent care. Hispanic Community Growing Health Needs Hispanics are getting sicker than others in America. According to the Center for Disease Control’s Office of Minority Health and Health Equity, life expectancy and health bettered in the last couple of years for the majority of American people; but, not all Americans are improving equally.
